so this is going to be a post all about how i try to devise nicknames/personas/aliases for myself.
(and also an excuse to ignore my notes for 15 more minutes)
blungestripe: the name of my blog
my favourite colours used to be blue and orange. blue-orange -- blunge. and i like stripes. so that was that. :/
nikkaroo: the name i use everywhere
i like the acronym NKR which is NiKkaRoo for short. also i thought it sounds weird and funny and hence thought it'd be a good name. though i realised it doesn't sound very nice when i say it aloud. .____.
i like signing off as NKR though. :) so i guess i'm fairly happy with it.
so i tried coming up with a Japanese sounding name for myself, because i honestly don't think ニコール (ni-kou-ru) or にく(niku, which means 肉meat in Japanese) sounds very nice/authentic at all. just in case i'll need it or something.
i used to have one ねこ/猫 (neko, which means cat) because that was one of the first few Japanese nouns my friends and i learnt in class. and they thought i suited it. :/ so it stuck. for awhile.
i even added a surname in front of it! 孫(そん: son) which is the surname of my favourite anime/manga character from Gensoumaden Saiyuki, Son Goku 孫悟空. except that my "son" was a different kanji character.
it was nice. and cute. except that it was a little common. so i need a change!
in my boredom just now, i went to find out what "victory" in Japanese means, because my name means "victory/victorious". turns out it means "shouri 勝利" or "yuushou 優勝". thinking around these two words, i combined it to "shouryuu" which turned out to be these two words 昇竜 which don't have any directly translatable meaning. (though i suspect it's some mythological turtle creature or something) searching up kanji quickly, i picked the kanji 小 for "shou" and 龍 for "ryuu" (because i ❤ dragons) and together they form the word shouryuu 小龍, which looks AND sounds nice!
...except that it sounds like a guys name. *facepalm* D'OH!
i guess i don't mind sticking with it, since i don't exactly need a very pretty or girly name. but i'll keep searching for more! i was thinking along the lines of my favourite flower, sunflowers, which translates to this beautiful sounding "himawari" 向日葵. :) or i could revert to an old nickname a friend had for me: okiku おきく. (which has a rather long and uninteresting backstory behind it :P )
alternatively i could play around with the whole "meat" thing going around with my name "niku" and called myself MEETO-chan or whatever.
OK SIGNS THAT I SHOULD STOP THIS and go back to mugging. peace. ☻
---
**EDIT**:
i suddenly thought of my current blog title and thought of 幸せな鮫 (shiawase na same) which means HAPPY SHARK. definitely beats MEETO-CHAN any time.
