Day 1.

so i'm here, on my first day in Tokyo, Japan. and thanks to how advanced and well-connected this place is, there is, of course, free Internet in the hotel room!

well, not much happened today, because most of our day was spent, um, flying.

(on a side note, air stewardess on plane liked my drawings HEHE Soul Eater and Original Chibis)

but Japan is really a different place from Singapore. this is something i think about everytime i set foot/look at pictures or anime of Japan.
the dressing, (i saw sooo many people with nice shoes today omg),
the buildings, (all the colourful, lighted billboards as well as narrow and numerous alleys)
the culture, (polite and courteous, at least most of them la)
and so much more...

so we arrived in Tokyo, Narita Airport. took a bus to Shinjuku Station 新宿駅 and a cab from there to our hotel. our hotel's a pretty small one, as with most buildings in Tokyo. it's new and well-maintained though! and i'm sooo fascinated by the facilities in the room. there's an electric stove, a microwave, tonnes of utensils and crockery like can openers, frying pans, pots, and there's also a toaster! Japanese like preparing their own meals, i guess, and they're very accustomed to and good at it. i really like our cosy, high-tech, modern room!

space is fully maximised and optimized here. my Japanese Studies teacher once told us that the 2 most expensive things in Tokyo are accomodation and transport. land here is so expensive, so people have to think of ways of fully utilizing the space here.

after settling down, my family and i ventured out to the streets of Shinjuku in search of DINNER. after walking around for some time and finding countless food outlets and restaurants, we finally settled on a Japanese-Western restaurant. the food was lovely, 本当においしいです!unfortunately, smoking was allowed INSIDE the restaurant, so sometimes the smell of smoke is really unbearable. i swear my throat felt really sore and dry after leaving the place.

we had Caesar Salad, Takonomiyaki たこのみ焼き (Okonomayaki but with octopus), Tomato Cream Prawn and Asparagus Spaghetti, Spicy Cod Roe Mentaiki Spaghetti and Carbonara. it was soo yummy, and fairly priced too!

after dinner, we proceeded to walking around the area and exploring it. bought some sweets, and also visited a CD/DVD/Games store selling suuuuuper cheap PSP games!!! didn't buy because everything was in Japanese... ;___; wanted the Dissidia and Crisis Core games omgg... and perhaps Disgaea too. also saw a lot of J Pop CDs i was tempted to buy, like Yui, Aqua Timez, Do As Infinity, and countless anime DVDs! nearly fainted with joy when i saw Soul Eater HAHA. lovelovelove.

passed by Bento stores おべんと selling bentos, and the convenience stores コンビニ selling things like gyoza and other REAL food. also, all the instant microwavable food sold at 7-11 were the traditional Japanese food, like curry rice, Japanese Napolitan spaghetti, Japanese Baked Rice, Udon, Zaru Soba etc etc. food fest!

so yea, back at the hotel room now. can't wait for tomorrow. ^_^
