Dancetitude & A New Chapter in life!

Remember when I said I was afraid that nothing could bring the same joy, excitement, adrenaline and bonded-ness ever again?

I'm thankful that I was wrong. :)

Dancetitude 2013 was anything but a smooth journey for us. What started as a 40-strong cast slowly dipped and dwindled due to people having other recital commitments, rag, work, and so on. Soon we found ourselves left with only 22 dancers, including the 2 choreographers who were dancing in our item with us.

Even with a smaller cast, attendance was still less than perfect. Most people were late/absent due to their busy schedules, and morale was low. Some of us wondered if we were even going to be able to pull this off as a decent concert item, much less uphold the high standard that the previous Blast! Dancetitude items had.

But somehow, as the remaining 22 of us refused to give up on each other and were determined to make this work for all of us, morale miraculously and magically began to rise again. I think the turning point was when we began to make our costumes. We somehow managed to make every rehearsal count, and even got excited planning our characters and makeup and such. We joked around but still got the job done during clean-ups, and we were supportive of each other, making sure that no one was left behind.

The item was beginning to work. We made fun of each other, laughed and screamed during every rehearsal, goofed off, got dirty and smelly at aircon-less venues... and we had each other. A small, but happy, Halloween Party, Blast! family.

Bump-in days were so crazy fun, every moment spent eating (that took up like 75% of the time we spent together) together, singing (badly) at charades, being stupid (at charades again), shouting (not singing) the song onstage during runs, chilling, hanging out, talking about RIFE.... All these were so reminiscent of DU 2013. Where dancers actually mattered more than the dance itself, and where I found deeper meaning to the passion I hold so dear.

Doing what I love with the people I love.
I'm glad I found it again.

So here's a happy and thankful Pucca saying thank you to my fellow 21 crazees and weirdos for being there and sharing this wonderful journey with me.

In other news, I've gotten myself a new perm job! My first ever perm job! So exciting. Furthermore I get to do what I want to do -- design. Even though it's not my first choice of Game Design, I'm still thankful since I get to serve God at the same time as I work. The people are really nice and warm and genuine too!

I brought some sentimental things to customise my workspace today. Rather proud of it lol it's so comfortable, I could stay here and draw all day. (this strengthens my desire for my own iMac desktop at home :/ )

Life has been good and full of promises and happy moments and memories. I couldn't have asked for a better new chapter in my life. Thank you, Lord. :)

Costumes + Crazy Pracs + Good Food + Artwork

I've accumulated so many photos in my phone, I need to break this photo blogging into several posts in order not to have too long a post on my blog. xD hence some of these photos aren't as recent as I hope :P

I've been having to clean my room and pack stuff because we're moving house soon! I'll refer to it as The Big Move. :) and i take very long because I keep getting distracted by all the cool stuff I find in my room! like this autograph from my favourite Steve from Quest Crew. =^_^=
I also had the privilege of attending NUS Convocation thanks to Kris's free pass! it was an interesting ordeal :) and we had fun having our own informal grad shoot xD
more pictures from Convocation 2012 can be seen here:
this is what happens when Blast! BBQ meet heavy downpour. LOL.

it was also Char's birthday recently! happy 21st birthday darling! her bf JonNeo really went the extra mile to organise this adorable surprise for her! whee!

here's what happened during a random blast! movie outing--the system allocated Tacky some tickets that DIDN'T EXIST. there is NO ROW Q in this particular theatre! Sabbie and i were wondering if there was a secret second floor to the theatre somewhere when we walked in!
THIS IS PROOF OF THE NON-EXISTENT SEATS BEING ALLOCATED TO US LOL.
we ended up waiting and having to change movie timing and theatre, but Batman was worth it. so good.

and of course, lots of Good Food. :)

ArtWork
I tried to get more artwork done during the hols to try and establish a client base! although i wasn't as efficient as I'd hope to be, i did manage to work faster than i did all sem. ^_^ gotta work harder, though! balancing both art and dance isn't easy, but it's definitely not impossible! :)
blending art and dance, i decided to draw out my SUAD costumes and Cred show costumes in order to plan what else i needed to buy/make/procure somehow! very effective method, i should do this more!

we should have more days like these.

haven't updated in exactly two weeks, two really good weeks. :)

firstly, being back at blast! class every wednesday is always (excuse my cliched and overused pun) a true blast. although Pat's choreo wasn't easy (as always) and was physically demanding with all the rolls and jumps and twists from ground upwards, it's always lovely spending my afternoons with the blast!ards who're working to a common passion and a common goal. :)

additionally, i always enjoy meals with the blast!ards after class. craziest and funnest. meals. ever.
here's Tim downing his usual 3 drinks after class.
i need to keep track of what i eat at Alcove! i want to eventually try everything on the menu :P yum!

2 weeks ago, i also had the wonderful opportunity of doing an Angry Birds show with Caleb and his performing crew! our job was mainly to attract the crowd to the Angry Birds game going on. it was a semi-flash mob at an Angry Birds road show in Vivocity. we performed like 16 times and had ample time to wander around Vivo. ^_^
since we had so much time in between our shows, we spent shopping, (bought a new set of speakers!) eating, and chilling. :) i really enjoyed myself during the breaks because it was a nice getaway from my daily rush and onslaught of activities.
found a new love at Soup Spoon - Thai chicken vermicelli something salad. so. good.

i made an effort to spend some time on my own, just chilling and enjoying life.
lugging books, bubble tea, dance clothes and the like before prac. the Mistborn saga is so good so far! just like everyone recommended! i'm still only on the first book though. :/
this is super worth it and super yummy! one large cup (this is the smallest size) of Vanilla Ceylon Tea Latte at only $5.80!

in other news regarding WORK and JOBS, it turns out that Coco doesn't need me to work in the day time anymore! and since i can't commit to working at night, i won't be needing to go back to work anytime soon. ^_^ (except to collect my pay) this really came as a blessing at the right time. i need more time to work on the things i really WANT to work on. like my artwork.
going to upload the full comic strip soon, but here's a little teaser. :)

Sabbie has also returned from Germany! bearing lots of German candies and chocs for all of us. ^_^

on Saturday, i also went on a random spontaneous excursion to Chinatown with Jiayi! (she was going to give me a lift there so i could get home more easily) it was...beautiful. :)

and of course, my usual food spam! :)
Chomp Chomp night with my cousin. we ate so much more than this, but the lighting was so bad, we couldnt get good photos. not even of ourselves. :(
Dim Sum week! Swee Choon with the Blast!ards and Din Tai Fung with the fam :)
i never fail to order this vinegar chilli wanton thing whenever i eat at these places. :) LOVE THIS SOUR SPICY SHIT IT'S AWESOME.
Cotton On was having this ravaging sale at nex, was so tempted to go down to take a look. which Singaporean can resist $2 and $5 bargains?!?!?!

as for this week, i spent monday watching Madagascar 3 with dear Krissy. it's such an awesome feel good movie, full of neon colours, rainbows, crazy music (BABY YOU'RE A FIREEEEWORKKKK), and crazy characters to match up! Kris and i were laughing like idiots all the way and really enjoying ourselves! even though so many things were so IMPOSSIBLE they just HAD to be from a cartoon, (everything about that Russian tiger is impossible, seriously) it was the sheer fact that they were so impossible that made the movie so good to watch. reality is so constricting sometimes. =___=

we also came to the conclusion that a certain zebra reminds us SO MUCH of our own troll Tim.
(DA DA DADADADADA CIRCUS DA DA DADADADADADA AFRO)
and that Alex the lion, in some ways, reminds us of Jessen/Alex. we were just shouting OMG TIM IS IN THE MOVIE OMG TIM YOU TROLL whenever Marty did anything remotely troll-like. (which was VERY often) we also chorused "ALEX YOU AWKWARD THING" whenever Alex the lion did anything awkward. which was, also, pretty often.

the sad thing Kris and i realised afterward was that the photo i got off our outing was this yummy shit:
after our outing we headed for an awesome BFS prac. i think so far, Alex's choreo has gotta be my favourite. Tim's is really fun, but i really love doing Alex's choreo to A Good Man. it's so chill, sleek, clean, and the musicality is just amazing.

week summary over, here's a bit of a mystery publicity that Jiayi, Shan and i have been up to. ;)
