Guilty Crown.

(DISCLAIMER: no major/direct spoilers, but may contain semi-spoilers!)

marathoned all 22 episodes of this series in a day! what an action-packed, mind-boggling, twisted, dark and tragic series. really left me going WTFFF a lot, because the story-writers were really skilled at building up hope, and then bringing it crashing right down within the next few minutes.

the animation was kickass and so were the designs (though i still think some of Inori's costumes could do with a bit more cloth) and so many of the themes dealt with in the show really reminded the audience about morals and what it meant to have goals, make choices, sacrifices, and fight for what is right.

the mysteries of the Voids just kept deepening throughout the show, and so did the mysterious surrounding various shady characters and their equally shady pasts. everything isn't what it seems at first glance, and even though you're expecting a plot twist like RIGHT THERE, it still hits you squarely in the face, leaving you wondering what exactly it was that knocked you flat.

the action scenes have got to be my favourite part of the show. wow each fight was a joy to watch, the hand-to-hand, the Void-vs-machine/human/Void, the mecha fights, everything was well-planned and action-packed all the way.

the main character Shu is an anti-hero, full of mysteries, and also full of flaws, but i think i still like him a lot, even during my least favourite arc of the show. i find Hare's description of Shu very accurate--he's a kind king, even though everyone grew to hate him for the things that he did, he knew he wanted to do them for the greater good of people.
the tragedy of the kind king. やさしい王の悲劇。i really felt his pain and his struggle all the way. in many ways, he reminds me of a certain aspect of myself, the weak, insecure person whose trying his best to make everyone happy with their lives, but not really knowing how to. wanting to be stronger and more confident, but not knowing what's the right thing to do besides taking the easy way out and running away. trusting people too much and showing compassion even when betrayed.

he really is...a kind (and tragic) king. ; ____ ; 本当にやさしい王だよ。

so many relevant to life themes within the show. some scenes really struck a chord in me.

and of course who can forget my personal OTP Dargumi!!! (Daryl Yan x Tsugumi) the way he looked out for her and kept hesitating (for ONCE this psycho hesitated! for HER! :D) was just so sweet. i never liked him much from the beginning and was kinda :O that he resembled Tiger & Bunny's Ivan Keralin so much (i love Ivan) but he kinda grew on me. especially after seeing him with Tsugumi hehehe~

so instead of wallowing in my OH WHY IS LIFE SO FRAGILE AND TRAGIC state, i am off to catch Avatar: The Legend of Korra in an attempt to cheer myself up! :) yay!
