Day 2 of our Tokyo trip has drawn to a close.
the day began with us taking the Japanese subway to the main Shinjuku station. the subway isn't as crowded as the main train line (like the shinkansen 新幹線). along the way we saw a number of students in typically Japanese school uniforms. omg i LOVE Japanese uniforms!!! *heartheart* 日本の制服が大好き!!!
because it was so early, the main departmental stores weren't open. we walked around looking for a breakfast place, and finally decided on a Curry Rice store カレーライスショップ after rejecting KFC and McDonald's. the curry was DIVINE. the portions were a little too big and heavy for breakfast, but delicious nonetheless.
after walking around, we decided to visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building. it's a building that's tall enough to get a bird's eye view of Tokyo. we even spotted Mt. Fuji amidst the clouds! Tokyo's street scene is interesting in the sense that amidst the modern apartments and skyscrapers/office buildings lie traditional Japanese shrines and small huts or temples. it makes an interesting cityscape! everything is really super duper cramped together.
also, at the tower, i saw how 2 window cleaners suddenly descended right in front of 2 chinese people. instead being shocked or afraid, they were straining to see the view from around the cleaners, since they were blocking most of the window. =__=
also the window cleaners looked nothing like typical window cleaners. they were well groomed, had nice hair, and looked very young. oh well.
we saw huge ravens/crows (i can't tell the difference. are ravens bigger?) on the way to Tully's for a tea break. i finally had my lovely MATCHA LATTE. which was a little too creamy but still yummy :D
on the way back to the pick up point for the half-day tour Mum signed us up for, we passed shops selling really pretty clamshell phones which UNFORTUNATELY don't work back in Singapore T__T, some nice shoes (but none i really fancied yet), a lot of cafes/restaurants that cater to people looking for a quick meal (alone), standing sushi/soba bars (where you stand throughout your meal) and lots of other neat things.
the day tour wasn't totally exciting, but nice enough, i guess. we took a boat ride to Odaiba (i remember this place from Digimon!! :D) which was full of Chinese people. at Odaiba, there's a small beach, a really really tiny miserable one, but the people there looked happy with it. i guess they don't get to see the beach much.
while on the tour, we passed an adidas store, and it was selling those limited edition sneakers in crazy colours!!! wanted to stop to take a look but we didn't have time. T__T oh well.
after the tour, we headed to a basement selling nothing but FOOD. mostly bento. and lovely desserts! we bought lots of yummy authentic Japanese food, took photos of them. ^_^
as of yet, i've not done any shopping yet. i really wanna go harajuku, ameyayokocho, akihabara to shop! hopefully we'll get a chance to do all!
also i would like to add that all Japanese boys our age style their hair, and most of them dress very well. also, a lot of them have better complexion than me. WHAT IS THIS D:
no wonder people always say Japanese boys are cute.
(some are a little too pretty though. :/)
