hey so today was danz people recital, and suddenly i'm immersed in the Wonderful World of Dance again, after being somewhat out of touch of it during the MugFest. it'll be a day before i'm back in action again, this time for a performance next week! kekeke. :P
so today, i got to watch the Danz People Recital 2010!!! whootz!
lots of friends performed today, so i stayed up all night packing little packets of chocs and sweets for them and writing their names in Fancy Font. didn't get to sleep till 6.30AM oh gosh. i just wanted to do something nice for them, to show them my lovelove and appreciation! ^_^ that's why i decided to customise their names and manually pack the gifts.
i also made a few for some close dears performing for tomorrow's (effectively today's) May Day at Istana. jiayou for that! and props to those mad and brilliant dancers who performed today and are going to perform at the Istana again in a few hours' time. seriously, muchmuch respect for you guys. GOGOGO.
also drew and wrote cards for three very special, precious friends of mine. :) only 3 of them, hehehe. really hoping they like it, and that it makes them smile. :)
i love my friends :D
the evening started with me chionging over to Dhoby Ghaut, cuz i had NO IDEA which part of NAFA the recital was at. :/ EPIC PHAIL.
tried to ask teo, chew, and zong out for dinner but teo and chew had exams and zong was held up at the other end of Singapore. kinda sad cuz i was looking forward all week to having a nice dinner with them today, since it's been ages since we had a nice chill-out dinner. but cannot help it la, exams come first!
so i met andreww and xin at Kopitiam before going over to NAFA. was very very worried that the Blast!ards wouldn't be able to sit together/get good seats if we didn't go there early to help them chope, so all 3 of us dabao-ed dinner and quick quick chionged over to NAFA to help everyone chope seats! (super aunty, but we really wanted to make sure we could sit together in decent seats) managed to secure some pretty good places for the gang :):):) happyhappy that we could watch it together!
i generally liked the show, but there were some items i REALLY liked--
BOTH of Kate's items: so gangsta, so much attitude, so much energy! plus their costumes were super duper street. whootz! now i know what KengWee meant when he recommended Kate's classes to me, they're NY Style, what i've been wanting to learn for as long as i wanted to learn waacking. wowww i really love her choreography...
Xiao's rollercoaster choreo: i actually saw half of this when they were rehearsing @ RH the other time! it's really nice + synchro + to a catchy song! and their nerd getups were WIN.
Mag's Pop Jazz item: when i heard Pop Jazz, i didn't really know what to expect, since i've seen a few Pop Jazz routines, which were all pretty different to me. but this one was sooo dopeeee oh gosh, so much energy, clean lines, clean turns, dynamic movements--just. WOW.
Mash's (Nash + Mazlan) item: expected that i like this, since i've seen quite a bit of the choreo and supersuper like it, and most of my good friends are in this item, super neat, magnus was always prominent, OMG, SO PROUD OF HIMMMM. i was telling Sali that he stole the limelight many times! there was this whole segment he was in the middle front wow wow. Fred really really wowed me as usual, oh gosh, what is with these boys and their innate ability to do street jazz. Fred was super clean and super nice to watch. i think that Poonie and Claud and Betts did reeeeally well too :) overall one of the neater items, i don't know how they cleaned up until so neat :O
Jootz and Becky's duet: i was rather moved by this one :) i think the effect of the falling...stuff helped a lot. :) it felt surreal for awhile...
so overall, good show everyone! :)

un-related to Recital Morale Boosters/Happy Squirmy Moments.
#1: Pat was a doorman and was super happy to see me! (i was a little surprised he remembered me hahaha) also, when i was sitting in a super unglam postition while eating my dabao-ed dinner outside, he came over to talk to me. he actually came over to ask me why i wasn't doing the MayDay show. at that point, i was so surprised that he realised that i'm not doing it, and was very thankful he remembered. :) he was also very happy to know i'm doing next week's perf. hehehe. thanks for remembering me, Pat!
#2: Ahmad recognized me + remembered my name without any prompting HEHEHE.
#3: Chun was so touched to get my customized sweets package and was so pleasantly surprised--seeing her so happy made me smile too since she's always been so good to Eusoff and us juniors...
#4: KengWee so grateful and shocked and appreciative of my customizing and effort gone into the gift. :) why wouldn't you expect something customized dude, you have FRIENDS okay! (stop chewing other people's flowers) he was like all AHHHH. hahaha xD
--------
after the recital, i was surprised at how many people i met and saw! wow. i love events like these where dancers converge and meet each other and talk and hang out. :) as KengWee said, dancers lag a lot when they get together. hahaa... *guilty*
was looking forward to supper after the recital, but it didn't happen because everyone started disappearing, probably since so many of them were involved in the MayDay thing! so i went home instead.
Daddy was so nice to want to come pick me up even though it was so late. thank you Daddy, i love you~~
so that was my day today. i'm going to go back and finish typing the post i wanted to publish before this, but i wanted to get all my thoughts on the recital out first. hehehe. :)
adios and ALL THE BEST TO EVERYONE PERFORMING @ ISTANA LATER. :D
