busybee.

wahhh okay this has been a busy week.

weds and thurs! hiphop auditions round 1! :x quite a taxing time, but nevertheless, it was great to be involved in the whole process of picking the next generation of juniors! :D teaching choreo is fun, but tiring. it's probably a whole lot easier than judging, cuz judges have to constantly keep their eyes peeled to spot talent. also, they have to deal with the constant nagging feeling that they're missing out on some talent out there that's unspotted, though it deserves to be recognised.

sigh. wonder how round 2 will go...?

went to terrance's and jiada's bday part yesterday! we watched the dancenight06 DVD and MAN they were good! AHHH so many hiphop items! not like our year. our year had quite few. there was a latin, a ballet, and a cabaret item as well! wow. our seniors were hot stuff. HUIYAN'S ITEMS WERE OWNAGE. the chair dance, the FAN DANCE *FAVESFAVESFAVES* and the finale (a yougotserved remake) were simply AWESOMEEEE. we had a good time watching them. the fan dance was so hot, even the guys admitted it was sexier than the cabaret one. :O huiyan's choreo is just amazing la. we all respect her lotsssss. :D

felt really inspired after watching that. :) so did fuzebox, apparently. XD we're more determined than ever to come up with imba choreo and perfect it for the competition! :D i'm a little worried about dancenight items tho. alicia told me that she finished choreographing showstopper the december before dancenight. it's almost february now and we haven't even finalised the concept, songs, mixing or even the manpower allocation for our DanceNight items! :x how ah. is it too late?

i want a girl's popping item. and a battle. and a gangster hardcore meng item. XD HAHA do we even have enough items for all that? maybe we can merge it into one item. heehee. ROJAK.

i'm beginning to have quite a number of dancenight concepts! but i don't think they'll work out. besides, i don't think i'm supposed to have that much of a hand in choreographing since it should be left to the division heads and the more competent hiphoppers in our year. :P

the bboy/girl team for 2008 looks zaii. :D seniors AND juniors. they're really passionate and enthusiastic! let's hope they stay this way for as long as possible. hiphop seniors no doubt are passionate and enthusiastic about their division, but i think we still lack the exposure, the love for the culture itself, the desire to push ourselves towards other forms of hiphop. currently, we seem to be happy where we are. fac dance, old choreo, MTV pop, there's nothing wrong with these dances. they're fun!

but hiphop is more than that. and somewhere within our hiphoppers, i know they know that too.

i know they've seen yeya, JP san pedro, oschool, studio wu, prepix, eddie uehara and many many others on youtube. i know they know hiphop is more than just DanceNight. and FacDance. but somehow, there isn't any desire to push ourselves beyond that. why?

some people think we need a leader. someone to lead us out of our comfort zone. well. maybe we do. for a start.

but whether we have a leader or not, i think every hiphopper was placed in our division for a reason. and if we're just gonna wait for someone to spoonfeedingly lead us to do what we were supposed to do on our own, we're gonna have to wait a longlong time.

we don't have that much time.
