yes, i do support local talent. i don't believe in discriminating against local singers just because they're..well..local. in my honest opinion, many local singers are better than international famous/infamous singers that we all hear about every day.
so what's with the, "this is a local song? no wonder it's so bad," and the, "sung by local singers? yuck, i don't wanna hear it," ? i don't believe singaporean artistes are inferior in terms of originality, creativity, stage presence or vocals. yet, they can't seem to get sufficient support from singaporeans. it's sad, really.
oh but it was SO SUPER AWESOME to see the show tonight, i couldn't help blogging about it. while everyone's screaming, "jon! hady! jon! hady!" there's a weirdo at home screaming:
PAUL! RAHIMAH! GAYLE! PAULLLLYYYY! IMAAAAAHHHH! GAYLEEEEE!
yes, nic supports the ousted idols, when everyone else supports the final two. XD
i thought the performances were excellent. they picked songs that were very...THEM. their voices suited the songs so well.
rahimah: the new evanescence song 'don't cry for me'
paul-y woll-y: dance dance by fall out boy
gayle: unfaithful by rihanna
nurul: a public affair by jessica simpson
jay: no promises by shayne ward
mathilda: aint no other man by christina aguilera
jasmine: breakaway by kelly clarkson
i thought emilee looked really cool too, but i dunno the name of the nice song she sang. aw.
twas a great show, i was screaming all throughout! energy can dance! and they sang such a funny song. XD electrico rocks as usual. and there was wake me up when september ends too, i was just discussing that song with some church friends and my parents yesterday. UBER COOL.
so, hady won.
i kind of expected it. both have outstanding qualities and i'm very sure that though he didn't take home the crown, that's not the last we're hearing of jonathan leong.
it's quite a pity, as i'm very happy that jon supports local music so avidly. but i'm sure hady will do us proud too. i'm so proud of our local talents! ^_^
my grandma said she'd vote 12 times for jon. guess what? she decided that her fingers were so itchy that she'd vote 21 times instead. well, i guess she's taking it pretty well for someone who's just spent about $15 on voting money.
i don't believe the money is wasted. i've always supported these two and they'll always be our idols.
ROCK ON JON.
ROCK ON HADY.
